During the construction of the Blackford Dolphin it became necessary to increase the Variable Deck Load capacity through the installation of sponson extensions and column extensions.

The workscope was: supply, fabrication, painting and load-out of 8 units totally 420 tonnes. The 14-week timescale was tight for the nature of the workscope given that material had to be ordered and delivered.
Changes in the design from DNV resulted in the generation of two variation orders with a two week extension of time. The units were delivered on schedule.
