Deputy Production Manager

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Deputy Production Engineering Manager to join our shipbuilding company. The ideal candidate will lead a team of production engineers, overseeing the planning, development, and execution of ship construction projects. The Production Engineering Lead will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, quality, and timely completion of shipbuilding processes.

The Role

• Lead a team of production engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and direction in ship construction activities.
• Develop and implement efficient production processes to improve shipbuilding timelines, reduce costs, and enhance overall quality.
• Work closely with various departments (design, procurement, operations) to ensure seamless coordination and integration of engineering processes with other phases of shipbuilding.
• Implement quality control measures to guarantee compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
• Manage resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximise productivity and minimize waste.
• Address and resolve engineering and production challenges by providing innovative solutions and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Maintain comprehensive records, prepare progress reports, and communicate updates on project status to senior management.

About you

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience in shipbuilding, with a proven track record in a leadership or managerial role. Experience in production engineering or a similar capacity is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in ship design software, CAD/CAM systems, and other relevant engineering tools. In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, manage, and inspire a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
