Job purpose: To lead the integrated development and progressive internal and external approval of a major Capital Project Systems Integration Strategy to help de-risk and enable the physical and functional outcomes. To lead the development of a progressive verification and validation matrix, including an integration test, evaluation and acceptance framework as a critical success factor to deliver a highly efficient build, unit assembly, test, commissioning, and progressive acceptance methodology for all new build platforms.

Key Duties

  • To be the lead H&W Group Systems Integration Point of Contact (PoC) for the new build Capital Project to enable the most effective systems integration practices and outcomes required in the competitive procurement phases (the progressive verification, validation, vertical and horizontal interfaces of all systems and equipment data)
  • To liaise closely within the H&W Group (Belfast and Appledore Shipyards/ Delivery Centres) to ensure that all design to production to build interfaces are fully evaluated, to ensure that systems and equipment verification and validation interfaces and interdependencies are fully captured;
  • Engagement with all Capital Project stakeholders including; the customers, suppliers, product teams and other technical stakeholders to define the overall technical authority solution for the H&W Group;
  • Managing issues with the design, negotiating across the team, suppliers and where appropriate the customer to reach equitable and mutually acceptable conclusions consistent with Leonardo principles
  • The creation, review and approval of an Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plan and formal System/Sub-Systems Customer Acceptance Test Plan
  • Providing progressive assurance to the project delivery in order to ensure successful completion on time and budget

About you

  • Highly experienced and demonstrable systems engineering, systems integration, Requirements Management (DOORS) and VVRM (Verification and Validation Requirements Matrices)
  • Domain knowledge in at least 2 of the following technologies – Surveillance Radar, Electro-optics (CCTV and thermal Imaging), Command and Control System Software, ICT and Networked systems
  • Demonstrable competence in leading the development and implementation of complex technical solutions, making engineering decisions, mitigating technical risk, and ensuring best practise is shared.
  • Understanding of product safety with experience in conducting / supporting safety reviews and hazard identification and management
  • Competence in conducting and supporting design reviews of complex solutions
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex technical issues
  • Demonstrable competence in identifying non-customer requirements that are nevertheless crucial to the design integrity of a solution
  • Familiarity with the concept of design certification including its importance in managing personal and corporate liability
