The payroll officer plays a crucial role in supporting the operation and delivery of the group’s payroll, which strives to deliver accurate pay to all employees. The post holder is accountable for operating all systems and procedures in relation to payroll, time and attendance and pensions to support the Company’s Payroll requirements.

Key Duties

  • To update and maintain the time and attendance system and ensure all aspects of attendance, eg, absence shifts, non-standard bookings are properly recorded, authorised as appropriate and coded for payroll purposes.
  • Maintain time and attendance records for agency workers for payment and costing purposes. Advise Agencies of manhours.
  • To ensure that time and attendance and payroll systems and procedures are updated in line with changes to terms and conditions of employment and business needs.
  • To prepare, calculating and updating the fortnightly and monthly payroll for all employees to the required deadline ensuring that control schedules and mechanisms are maintained at all times.
  • To prepare and distribute payroll reports and payslips as necessary.
  • To make the necessary returns to Government departments eg, HMRC, DHSS, including RTI submissions.

About you

  • A minimum of two years’ experience of administrating payrolls of varying pay frequencies
  • Membership of the CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll and Pension Professionals) (Desirable)
