Reports to:       Ship Manager  

Job purpose:    To ensure the safe and successful delivery of shipbuilding and engineering work packages, achieving all performance targets.  To lead an operations team against established processes, measure performance, evaluate risk or opportunity and take action accordingly.

The Role

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Electrical
  • You will lead a multi-disciplined team to meet the agreed programme milestones. You will be provided with a 12 week look ahead and will arrange your teams in order to meet the schedule.
  • Identify all resources (people, information, facilities equipment and engineering support) necessary to support the works.
  • You will be expected to balance and allocate resources to meet both cost and schedule.
  • Ensure your team are supplied with all enablement requirements to carry out the tasks allocated to them.
  • You will ensure that all quality standards are met with the appropriate documentation signed off in a timely manner. You will also be required to manage any non-conformances raised within your area.
  • Co-ordinate the company’s resources and subcontractors to deliver the works to schedule, quality, safety and cost.
  • Ensure the production activity promotes the best use of the working day through constant review of staff activities and project activities

About you

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship
  • Suitable and relevant post apprenticeship experience of ship build/ship repair
  • Time served within a supervisory position
  • Time served within a package management or Zone Manager role, experienced in running a production project with responsibility for time, budget and quality of product delivered.
  • A sound knowledge of all trade disciplines and the ability to evaluate risks, processes and opportunities
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead, challenge and develop others
  • Sound operation knowledge and experience of the operation and the hazards that may arise
