Lead the integrated development, scenario review process and final approval of the Build Strategy for a large project. Act as the company focal point and work collaboratively with its members to derive the optimum shareholder value. Manage and continually improve the cost and schedule effectiveness, facility optimisation, build assurance and affordability of an efficient UK block-build, whole ship assembly, test, commission and progressive acceptance methodology to enable a high PWin outcome.

The Role

  • The H&W build strategy PoC (Point of Contact) leadership to enable the most advantageous build strategy methodology;
  • Provide E2E (End-to-End) project management capability across the entire build strategy process, with a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and People (SQCDP) to optimise bid winning success;
  • Providing progressive assurance to the project delivery in order to ensure successful completion on time and budget
  • Identify opportunities which optimise cost, schedule, technical, assembly, commissioning & acceptance scopes of work across a larger Programme and strengthen bid winning success and ultimately safeguards execution;
  • Manage the integration of programme consortium members across the key functions and related bid lifecycle stages in line with defined bid budget and schedule parameters, ideally within an earned value framework;
  • Drive effective project governance (resources, processes, systems and controls) to ensure all build strategy and build assurance inputs and deliverables are reviewed and approved to high quality standards in a timely manner in line with H&W BMS;
  • Effectively manage project / functional resources to enable efficient progress on the entire E2E build strategy;
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal (including consortium members) and external stakeholders

About you

  • Proven project management experience leading complex projects and integrated teams;
  • Major / complex new build construction & assembly experience across the project lifecycle;
  • Strong facilitation skills, able to manage and motivate people at all levels;
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to process and project documentation;
  • Ability to challenge constructively, build credibility and work with integrity at all levels;
  • Acute focus on effective and engagement bid / change / project management with exposure to formalized methodologies;
  • Highly developed interpersonal & relationship building skills, able to work across a matrix structure and with partners / contractors;
  • Certified Project Management qualifications e.g., APMP as the benchmark, Prince2, Agile equivalent;

Track record of delivering £MM complex projects on time and within budget.
