Reports to: Mechanical Fitter Supervisor
Job Summary: To install mechanical components, fittings and equipment to the requirements of quality, safety and at the completion rate as directed by the foreman.
The Role
- Interpret Drgs (P&IDS) & Diagrams, oral & Written Instructions, material Specs & British Standards
- Interpret Suppliers Instructions & Compliance Requirements, regulations, rules & standards
- Operate Equipment & Tools e.g. drills
- Install Machines & Systems e.g. eng room and deck equipment
- Set to work Machines & Systems e.g. eng room and deck equipment
- Repair & Overhaul Machinery & Systems
- Flush & pressure test Systems, align Pumps, valves & shaft
- Install Taper Shafts & Keyways, fitted Bolts and re-assemble main engines and jet bowls
- Operate measuring devices micrometers, depth gauges, vernier dial, callipers and bolt torqueing equipment
- Operate Burning, Grinding & Drilling Equipment, Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (M.E.W.P.), 135’ M.E.W.P. (ST), 125’ M.E.W.P. (AT)
About you
- City & Guilds Level 1 to 3 in Mechanical Engineering/Plant Maintenance
- Experience with valves, compressors, tail shafts, bow thrusters, muff couplings, heat exchangers, pumps and fans
