The Ministry of Defence has selected Team Resolute, comprising Harland & Wolff, Navantia UK and BMT, to build support ships for the Royal Navy with a £1.6 billion contract. Team Resolute has been appointed to deliver three crucial support ships to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA), where such vessels will provide munitions, stores and provisions to the Royal Navy’s aircraft carriers, destroyers and frigates deployed at sea. This contract will come with investment in shipyard infrastructure to support the British shipbuilding sector, the investment will create one of the most advanced yards in the UK, significant for future export and domestic shipbuilding and offshore opportunities. Job Purpose: Integrated platform management systems engineer will play a fundamental role in the delivery of newly constructed Fleet Solid Support Ships, ensuring that they are fully operational, safe, and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards before they are delivered to UK MOD and accepted into service. This critical position involves close collaboration with various departments, stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure the successful completion and delivery of the systems.
The Role:
- The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer with an expertise in complex systems build, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance of Integrated platform management systems.
- Understand the system development lifecycle from the requirement definition through to acceptance.
- Support the dept. manager to preparation, maintain, and update the commissioning schedules of the systems and subsystems packages assigned to them.
- verify in situ that the installations of the systems and subsystems are mechanically and electrically complete prior to accepting them for commissioning activities ensure compliance with HSE procedures related to the commissioning activities undertaken by them.
- coordinate the mobilisation of equipment vendors technicians when required.
About You:
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related field is typically required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline can be advantageous.
- Experience: Significant experience in shipbuilding, marine engineering, or ship commissioning roles is essential. Prior experience in managing complex commissioning projects is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ship systems, machinery, and equipment is essential. Familiarity with international maritime regulations and classification society rules is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure all commissioning processes are conducted accurately and in compliance with standards.
