Job Purpose:
Environmental subject matter expert to provide advice and guidance to operational teams and site management. To support the business’ ISO 14001 certification by leading on the planning and assurance components of its PDCA cycle. To ensure environment and sustainability compliance obligations are met and ensure pollution prevention measures are adequate.
The Role:
- Deliver training to workforce on environment and sustainability related topics.
- Apply for and maintain legal permits and licences required under environmental legislation.
- Support ISO14001 certification by liaising with certification bodies and maintaining the framework of H&W’s environmental standards, policies, procedures and guidance.
- Investigate environmental incidents on site or supporting the investigation team with specialist knowledge.
- Deliver environmental reporting into the Group Environmental manager and HSEQ Reporting Lead
- Support bid and tender work where specialist environmental insight and expertise are required.
- Occasional expectation to travel to operating sites (other than home location), with overnight stays, with occasional short-notice requirement to attend other sites to support regulatory, investigation or other operational requirements.
About You:
Educational Requirements:
- Successfully completion secondary level education.
- Hold Practitioner IEMA membership with up-to-date CPD or hold Associate membership and be working towards becoming a practitioner.
- Hold a recognised level 5 or 6 Environmental qualification e.g. Nebosh Diploma in Environmental Management
Desired Knowledge/ Experience:
Experience
- Familiar with shipbuilding, ship repair or engineering fabrication and manufacture operations
Competencies
Functional Know-how
- Experience of ISO14001 as a lead or internal auditor.
- Ability to use, and previous experience of HSQE systems
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
- Numerate, organised, self-motivated
