Job Summary:   Closely supporting the H&W Sales / BD Director – Defence and Government Programmes to pursue all strategic fit defence market opportunities, grow the dynamic defence pipeline, enable and sustain excellent defence customer engagement and support the defence bid team to convert target defence business to meet H&W Group revenue targets.

The Role

  • Support the design, development and execution of the H&W defence sales/BD strategy with an associated execution plan that will provide a growth route-map to defence market-specific revenue targets in line with the H&W Group Business Plan
  • Design, develop and maintain a defence stakeholder engagement framework demonstrating a strong focus on the addressable defence UK regional market
  • Develop and continually improve an international defence analysis dashboard that provides agile and right time filtering of target opportunities to match our growing capabilities
  • Thought leadership into the design of and management for the delivery of H&W defence value propositions, brochures and win proposals to target customers/clients (UK and International)
  • Attend target events and forums (seminars, exhibitions) with appropriate campaigns to nurture defence market growth
  • Own and maintain all defence leads and opportunities inputs to the H&W Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool with demonstrable probability of win assessments and accurate reporting methods
  • Actively lead and participate in regional (assume <£3M value business) and corporate (assume >£MM opportunities) formal bid activities to continually adopt business development lifecycle management best practice and optimisation (supporting growth targets and reviewing market conditions)

About you

  • Demonstrable and successful defence business development experience, and;
  • Strong awareness of all / elements of the UK defence market, ideally with very good familiarity with the National Ship-build Strategy, naval and maritime doctrine and real-time UK-wide shipyard knowledge and intelligence.
  • Proven Technical / Operational delivery acumen
  • Very good familiarity of various defence (and commercial marine) contract constructs
  • Sound financial & literary skills & knowledge
