Al Oraiq measures 315m x 50m which the Building Dock, at 556m x 93m, was more than capable of holding. The 136685 gross tonnage vessel, built in 2008, is managed by “K” Line Shipping (UK) Ltd and currently sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands. It is the biggest cargo ship to have docked in the City for almost 30 years.
In 6 weeks H&W fabricated, installed and painted a new bulbous bow, internal steel repairs and side shell repairs, totalling circa 80 tonnes, with the vessel sailing away on the scheduled re-delivery date.
