Harland Builds ands Installs Somerset Bridge

David McVeigh, Harland and Wolff’s head of sales and marketing says the Somerset bridge is helping secure the engineering company’s reputation for quality steel fabrication.

“Our civil engineering activities have grown in the last two years during which we have built and installed bridges in the Republic of Ireland, England and Scotland,” he says.

“These projects are as time-sensitive as any of the marine work we undertake and because of our experience we are able to guarantee quality, value for money and that deadlines are met,” he says.

“We were delighted to have been awarded this project by Alfred McAlpine Capital Projects who had been appointed by Somerset County Council to construct the North West Taunton Transport Package.”

Harland and Wolff has undergone a radical transformation in recent years and now focuses on three main fields of activity: ship construction, repair and conversion; design engineering; and steel fabrication and civil engineering.

David McVeigh says the yard is busier than ever and is working flat out on current orders in all three fields.
